Love Of A Child

Newfound Love of Children

When I was a teenager at the age of 15 years old, I developed a newfound unknown love of a child in general. Before that point in time, I had no clue about children or the concept of such a feeling. I am speaking of this topic in relation to the main picture on the website of me feeding my nephew milk at that age.

A family member put the child in my arms for some reason and I had no reason why. He was crying I know that much. Once he was in my arms and I gave him the milk, he immediately calmed down and was at peace. It was a happy feeling taking care of a helpless baby and seeing it being tranquil from my mere touch. He later grew up into adulthood and does not talk to me anymore. I will go into that child to adulthood concept near the end.

Later on as he grew up, I transitioned into taking care of my niece instead. I fed her milk, cleaned up her spit ups, and slept next to her almost every day. That seemed to be the only way I could get her to go to sleep without yelling at her out of frustration. It was also weird changing a girl’s diaper versus changing a boy’s diaper. I was not use to seeing a naked female in general regardless of her age. But the job had to be done regardless. Yes, she peed on me while I changed her diapers.

Children can bring a person to anger due to lack of cooperation at times. Yes, honestly that can lead to verbal yelling which is harder to control in teenager years and early 20’s to mid-20’s.

I have certainly become calmer and more grounded in my late 30s. While life always has its challenges, I’ve learned to channel my experiences into my creative work and my business, finding a sense of peace in the stability I’ve built.

Calming My Own Kids

When I hit young adulthood, I got married and had two children.  My wife gave me my son when he was crying because he would not quiet down when she held him. All I did was put him on my shoulder while I was playing my computer game and he quieted down in two seconds. I have found I calm boys down easier than girls.

As time passed, my daughter was born and I put her in my arms and she cried like crazy. The only way I could get her to calm down is to sleep next to her. A hug seemed to not be enough. All I needed for calming my son down was to give a simple hug or even explaining things thoroughly of how something works and why it is what it is.

Those early experiences as a teenager taught me that every child is unique. As I moved into young adulthood and had my own children, I realized that whether I was calming my son on my shoulder while gaming or holding my daughter, the core lesson remained the same: patience and presence are the most valuable things a parent can give.

Enjoy Company While It Lasts

The point of this topic is about loving children. Despite the challenges of the different genders, it is still a happy moment and learning experience taking care of them while they are young. Enjoy their company while you have them. Some lose them when they are adults and some lose them before they reach the age of 3 whether it be a father, a mother, an aunt, or an uncle raising them.

Back to what I was speaking of earlier regarding children transitioning to adulthood. Some children become more distant as they get older. I have noticed that in my own life. When they are young, they are innocent and do not know much about the world around them so they have a feeling of more closeness and love towards family members even if those members are not parents.

It is like once reaching adulthood, the child radically changes. It is most likely due to social interactions with other adults, responsibilities from work or college, and an understanding of cultural expectations. Some children have a desire to fit in and once becoming an adult, that ability becomes easier somewhat – especially after getting a job. A source of income can be very useful for reaching that goal of fitting in with the norms of a society.

Accept Yourself For Who You Are

People just have a drive for being what is considered normal. I use to be that type of person up until I hit 36 years old. By that age, I stopped following that path and learned it is best to accept yourself for who you are instead of constantly fighting it and causing yourself more anxiety. If someone can not accept yourself for who you are, that is fine. At least, you have accepted yourself for who you are and that is all that matters.

Anyways, the children I knew that are adults now – and not just family members only, I believe have rejected me or ignore me because I defy the norms of society with my words and actions. My own children are not adults yet, but I fear they will end up the same way eventually.

No matter how much love or effort is given – whether financial effort or actual physical effort, there is no guarantee there will be acceptance from children changing into adults if the child sees you are not like everybody else in society.

Do Not Reject Parents

My heart does go out to those with mental illnesses and those with autism who reach adulthood and have children who do not have a mental illness or autism and in some scenarios those children reject them afterwards. Or another scenario I have encountered children rejecting their parents due to finding out some deep dark secret about them in the past or because the child felt neglected by the parent back then and now the parent has changed while older to be a better person. I have talked to friends who see their parents that way and I find that very sad and disappointing.

Building a humanoid robot has actually opened my eyes to the relationship between a creator and their creation. Just as it would be wrong for a creation to turn on its creator—much like the tragedy seen in Star Wars—I believe there is a fundamental bond of respect that should exist between generations.

People’s feelings change over time in the present including my own, but the feelings of the past never change. Those are memories always following a person.
